I am a co-founder of Syracuse Grows, a grassroots network that cultivates food justice through advocacy, education, and resources in support of urban food production. In this capacity I work to support the emerging urban agriculture movement in Syracuse and am a founding member of the Westcott Community Garden. Additionally, I work with students both inside and outside the classroom to participate in community engagement activities.

Along with my colleague Matt Pottegier I coordinate FoodPlanCNY, an on-going community based project created to assess, coordinate, and educate to strengthen the food system of Central New York through:

  • Inclusive economic development
  • Improved public health outcomes
  • Enhanced environmental sustainability
